We had the opportunity to watch your contest this past weekend. It was fun but I would like to offer a couple of comments. The street should be blocked off including side streets to prevent cars/trucks coming into the contest area. Since the two cops there were too busy talking to each other than to keep traffic out I’d recommend volunteers. Also you should have judges all along to watch for the brake lights, not depend on the audience. One man tells the judges that the yellow car’s brake lights came on in a previous run so they ding him for it. Why didn’t anyone else see this? I also could have sworn that cars came through with no marks though I was sure a couple had lost previously. Someone should be recording the losers to keep everyone honest.
Not sure who is reading this, but over all we had good experiences there. However the rudeness at one pizza place around the corner from the seafood row and the prices at the local market left a bad taste. People and food at OleBobs were great.
Larry,
Sorry for such a delay in responding. Thank you for attending the Slow Drag. We do rely on volunteers for the whole event. I know we had people at the different stations checking brake lights, etc. I’m sure that there where some errors, but remember it’s for fun!
I’m not sure which pizza place you are talking about, but I am sad that you didn’t have good service. I agree with you about OleBob’s, Susan does a good job over there. We hope you come back to our port soon. Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,

For the past 5 years My family has been attending your slow drags. My Mustang, my sons Ford Galaxy and my son-in-laws Camero. We have had fun participating even though we have never won and will continue to come. I do however believe that some of the owners take it a little too serious. I would like to see a little better dash plaque as this is the only thing we get out of participating. Also last year quite a few of the cars did not leave the start line together. When I started out, what turned out to be my last time, I left the line and almost a full car length or more later the other car left. If leaving togtherI think it would be easier for judges to watch both cars for any violations of rules on either car. If I do not win again this year I may very well volunteer to help and have as much fun.
By the way the last couple of years I have been number one (1) to register. I would appreciate it if you would put me down again in that spot.
