ATTENTION STURGEON ANGLERS

EMERGENCY REGULATION CHANGE FOR 2010:

For the Columbia River from the Wauna powerlines downstream to Buoy 10

Including adjacent Washington tributaries and Youngs Bay

 

WHITE STURGEON RETENTION IS ALLOWED

7 days per week during the following periods in 2010:

May 22 – June 26  -  Size limit: 41-54 inches fork length

Ending date depends on quota being met.  Sturdeon retention is prohibited May 1-21 and June 27- December 31, 2010

Catch and release angling is allowed during non-retention periods.

Green sturgeon retention prohibited.  Daily limit 1 white sturgeon.  Annual limit 5 white sturgeon.

COLUMBIA RIVER COMPACT/JOINT STATE ACTION NOTICE 

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife April 20, 2010 

The Columbia River Compact met today and took the following actions:

1. The commercial fisheries in Youngs Bay, Tongue Point, Blind Slough/Knappa Slough and Deep River are closed until further notice.

2. The recreational fisheries in Youngs Bay, Tongue Point, Blind Slough/Knappa Slough and Deep River ar closed until further notice but no later than June 15.

Prized Salmon are projected to return in the largest numbers since at least 1938.

The summer Salmon season has been confirmed!  This is a 2 part season:

CHINOOK only:  June 12 to June 30.  7 days a week, Limit of 2 Chinook, must be hatchery clipped

July 1 to Sept. 30, (or to met quota which ever comes first)  2 fish limit:

2 hatchery marked COHO, or

1 hatchery marked COHO and 1 Chinook of 24′ or greater.  Chinook does not have to be marked.
